Trained in the Romanian piano school like Dinu Lipatti, Clara Haskil or Dan Grigore, Dana Ciocarlie also studied in Paris with Victoria Melki at the École Normale de Musique and followed the advanced cycle of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique in the classes of Dominique Merlet and Georges Pludermacher. Her meeting with the German pianist Christian Zacharias was to be particularly decisive in her deepening of the piano works of Franz Schubert, to whom she devoted a cycle of nine concerts at the Théâtre Molière - Maison de la Poésie in Paris in 1997.

His maturity, his simplicity of tone, his natural expression made him noticed by the monthly magazine Le Monde de la Musique in a dossier dedicated to the "2000 generation": the young promising artists likely to occupy the top of the bill tomorrow.

Gifted with a lively-silver temperament where generosity vies with commitment, Dana Ciocarlie has a vast repertoire, ranging from Jean-Sébastien Bach to today's composers. Some of them have dedicated works to her, such as Karol Beffa, Frédéric Verrières, Nicolas Bacri, and she is recognized as one of the major interpreters of Horatiu Radulescu.

His experience and talent have been rewarded with numerous prizes in prestigious international competitions: a Grand Prize at the Robert Schumann International Competition in Zwickau, the Sandor Vegh Special Prize at the Geza Anda Competition in Zurich, the International Pro Musicis Prize, the Young Concert Artist European Auditions in Leipzig, the F. Busoni Competition in Italy.

She is a laureate of several foundations: Yvonne Lefèbure, Nadia Boulanger, Gyorgy Cziffra, and is also a sought-after performer in the field of chamber music. Her many activities throughout the world in recital or in concert with orchestra have taken her to the United States (Boston, New York, Los Angeles), Canada (Montreal, Festival de Lanaudière), Hong Kong, Europe (Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Italy, Netherlands, Romania), France: Cité de la Musique, Théâtre du Châtelet, Radio-France, Auditorium du Louvre, Salle Gaveau, MIDEM in Cannes, at the Lyon Opera, and in various festivals: Chopin in Bagatelle, Berlioz in La Côte Saint-André, Rencontres de musiciennes in Ouessant, Périgord Noir, Massenet in St. Etienne, Radio-France-Montpellier. Etienne, Radio-France-Montpellier, La Roque d'Anthéron...

Since 2001, she has been a regular guest of Jean-Pierre Derrien for the programme L'atelier du musicien on France-Musique, playing and commenting on the great piano works of Robert Schumann.
