Bogdan Nesterenko

Concert accordion

Born in Ukraine, Bogdan Nesterenko began learning the accordion at the age of seven and was taught by masters of the renowned Soviet accordion school (V. Razdovarova, E. Vachtchenko, A. Nazarenko and I. Snedkov). In 1997, he entered the Kharkov Higher Conservatory of Music (Ukraine) where he obtained higher diplomas in accordion, conducting, analysis, writing and chamber music. He also studied piano. Since 2001, he has been a soloist at the Kharkov Regional Philharmonic and collaborates with various ensembles in Kharkov and Kiev.

Winner of several international accordion competitions, he has produced two solo albums, Bogdan Nesterenko (2004) and Accordéon baroque (2006), and another with a traditional music ensemble from Ukraine, Melana (2005).

Based in Lille since 2006, Bogdan Nesterenko gives a large number of recitals in France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany and Ukraine, some of which are entirely devoted to baroque music, a rare occurrence for an accordionist.

He also performs in contemporary music and participates in the creations of O. Yagoubi(Concerto des deux mondes for accordion and symphony orchestra), Maurice

Bourbon (several works for vocal ensemble and accordion), Ch. Hache (three concertos for accordion and wind band) and S. Fache (concerto for accordion and big band).

He forms two duos: with the violin of Stefan Stalanowski (super soloist of the Lille National Orchestra), for concerts of 19th century Slavic music, and with the balalaika of Micha Cherkassky, for the recreation of a very particular Russian universe. Since 2009, he has been touring France with mezzo-soprano Donatienne Milpied in the show Les Dessous d'une cantatrice.

Bogdan Nesterenko has had many musical experiences: with the vocal ensemble "Coeli et Terra" (conducted by M. Bourbon), with the Annesci Quartet, with A. Raës (piano), with S. Dobrakowski (organ) or with A. Bystrichenko (bandura). He recorded the songs of Pierre-Jean de Béranger with J. Fages (vocals) and participated in the recording of the original music of N. Debard for the film Gagarinland.

Bogdan Nesterenko plays a Russian accordion, the "Jupiter", an instrument that offers a wide range of musical possibilities thanks to its rich timbre and multiple registers.
